May 30, 2006 — Two days after Reggie’s car was discovered, the search of the surrounding woods was well underway. RCMP officers, search dogs, volunteers and members of our family were searching the thick brush and swamp near the site.

By this point, some of Reggie’s clothing and other personal belongings had been found. Searchers had also discovered bone fragments, but they had not yet been identified as human, and we still did not know what had happened to Reggie.

This CBC News report captures that brief period when the discovery of the car had finally given the search a focus, but there were still far more questions than answers.
