Dad goes for Alcohol Treatment

Dad goes for Alcohol Treatment

A couple days after the “Big Bust”, my father took the step that would change his life and agreed to go into an alcohol treatment facility for 40 days. The treatment facility was located somewhere outside of Philadelphia, and they set him on the right path.

At the time he entered that facility, he was a full-blown alcoholic drinking more than a quart of rum or other alcohol every day. It had been a long decline, but he was starting to hit rock-bottom.

He came back a little crazy from the treatment, as I imagine the withdrawal was difficult, but he stuck with the Alcoholics Anonymous program, found a good sponsor, went to meetings every week, or whenever he felt the need and it helped him tremendously through the many trials, tribulations and stress over the years.

He became a well-known AA guy and often spoke and always tried to help those in need. He talked to people of his age group and to young people, and always tried to help.

He died in December 2023, almost 43 years sober, despite all the trauma and stress that he endured in the years that followed. Simply amazing.
