Just days after Reggie was abducted, three of the five men charged in connection with the kidnapping were released on their own recognizance. The other two remained in custody.

The news frightened Reggie. Our family remembers him being afraid that the men might try to prevent him from cooperating with the police or testifying about what had happened.

The following newspaper article, published shortly after the kidnapping, explains the releases and the conditions imposed by the court. A copy of the article was later emailed to our parents.
